Sammakko (”Frog” in English) is a publishing house founded 1996 and situated in Turku. With broad-minded, special choice of books and fresh, unique design Sammakko is a steady player in the Finnish publishing field.
Sammakko’s first volume was translation of Charles Bukowski’s The Days Run Away Like Wild Horses Over the Hills. Nowadays Sammakko publishes about 20 new titles every year, both Finnish and translations; prose and poetry, a variety of non-fiction, cartoons and children’s books. Our translations include classics like Charles Baudelaire, Roberto Bolaño, Raymond Carver, Noam Chomsky, Arthur Rimbaud, Hunter S. Thompson as well as contemporary American and European literature, such as David Mitchell, Marina Lewycka, Wladimir Kaminer, Heinz Strunk, Liv Strömquist and Bruno K. Öijer.
